B & J windows are top quality crafted marine grade windows. They are watertight and built to withstand several years of use in the harsh marine environment. Cheaper windows tend to leak, which can result in extensive damage to interior wood and instruments. The standard glass used by B & J is ¼ Laminated Safety Glass. This glass can withstand 400 foot pounds of kinetic energy without breaking. If the glass does break, it stays intact, just as a car windshield does on impact. Other manufacturers use 1/8 Tempered Glass to build their windows. When this glass breaks, it shatters into a million pieces. Our heavy, aluminum frames are unique in design. B & J’s slider, (which has a frame itself), slides on a lip, making it watertight and durable. The design is such that water has no place to go but out.
